How To Style A Basic Outfit To Look Expensive

A basic outfit brings a certain amount of comfort that dressing up can't bring. But that doesn't mean you have to look like you weren't intentional with your outfit. Here are 5 things I like to do to make the most basic of outfits look expensive.

1. Color Coordinate.

A matching set is a total win! Throw on some cute tennis shoes and a long coat if it's cold, and your next favorite errands outfit is ready! And if you're feeling it, add a ball cap and a gold necklace.

2. Build with Accessories.

I love a pair of blue jeans and a white T-Shirt. It's simple and basic but more so it's a blank canvas. From here I can wear whatever shoe is most comfortable and pair that with a cute jacket if necessary. Feeling a little fancy? Wear your favorite jewelry and explore some layering! Adding a statement hand bag, either in color or style, would take this outfit to the next level.

Some of my favorite pieces for accessorizing:

This one is so cute and adds western vibes instantly. I also found a matching bracelet set!

Everybody needs a go-to necklace. This is mine. It's simple and classy, perfect for almost any occasion.

I cannot get enough of these hoop earrings. Some nights I wish I could sleep in them!

These rings are so fun for stacking! The little heart one is my all-time favorite. It fits my style perfectly.

I love how these bracelets work together but also stand out on their own. They add the perfect touch every time I wear them. They also fit me as ankle bracelets!

3. Create a Contrast.

Contrasting a basic outfit with mid glam make up is one of my favs! Is it a sweatshirt and hair in a messy bun kinda day? No worries! Those days are some of the best! Doing a mid glam make up job is a great way to elevate your outfit! Not only is a incredible eyeshadow or contouring job satisfying but it says, "This whole look is intentional". It gives that girl boss energy. It's not to much but says "I am showing up".

4. Use Shoes to set the Mood.

Where am I going? What am I trying to accomplish? And how do I want to feel whilst doing it? If I'm going to a meeting at the court house, I'm probably going to choose a pair of heels and walk in the dignity and confidence that they suggest. If I'm running errands and trying to set record time, I'm probably gonna choose a pair of boots or tennis shoes that seem to softly say "I mean business and I'm getting it done". Shoes can set the mood for your entire outfit. What shoe get's your point across? If you can answer that question then there's a good chance your outfit will align with your purpose. And knowing your purpose is expensive energy.

5. Smile and Carry Yourself Well.

It's not just your outfit that creates a look. It really comes down to who is wearing the outfit. Smile, exercise pleasant manners, and be friendly in your interactions. Know who you are and walk in that confidently. That is the key to elevating any outfit. If you want to look expensive... act like it. Act like (and I don't mean pretend I mean take action and let your actions show that) you know your worth and that like you value yourself and others because no body can out a price tag on your worth and values.

Styling an outfit is just the surface. It's important to style and to shape you as a person as well!
